Opportunity
The Jewish Fund Teen Board is a philanthropy educational experience for Jewish teens in metropolitan Detroit.  It is a program of The Jewish Fund, a grantmaking foundation supporting organizations serving local health and human service needs.  The Teen Board seeks an engaging and skilled youth facilitator to develop and implement monthly meetings during the academic year which target second year Teen Board members.  The facilitator will be supervised and assisted by the Teen Board coordinator in the development of the curriculum. He/she will be responsible for maintaining active participation by teen board members throughout the year, developing stimulating and meaningful group experiences, and evaluating each group meeting session.  Curriculum will focus on an advanced grantmaking learning experience as the teens will have completed an initial year on the board.

Time Commitment:
The position is anticipated to average ten hours/month with group meetings taking place approximately monthly from September through May on Sunday afternoons.  In the spring, site visits will take place after school hours for one to two weeks. 

Skills and competencies:
To minimize the learning curve, the following qualities are being sought for this position:
• Experience as a grantmaker, grant seeker, or work in a philanthropic foundation
• Completion of undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field of study
• Professional and/or volunteer experience in teen engagement and/or experience facilitating learning activities with teens
• Nonprofit organization administration
• Knowledge of Jewish culture, values and local Jewish community
• Experience and demonstrated ability to mentor and empower teens to develop their leadership and organizational skills
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, particularly with teens
• Self-directed and available to work 6 Sundays, limited weekday hours, and manage time working independently
