The Jewish Fund, in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, has an immediate opening for a Grants Coordinator/Administrative Assistant.  The Jewish Fund is a grant-making foundation supporting organizations serving local health and human service needs.  Led by a small staff, along with a Board of Directors, the foundation considers and awards grants of approximately $3.2 million annually. 

The Grants Coordinator/Administrative Assistant primarily manages the administration of the grant application and monitoring process.  This includes all computer activities utilizing Gifts Online, a grants management system, throughout the grant process.

The Coordinator/Assistant interfaces with applicants, grantees and staff throughout the process to ensure timely and accurate reporting and communications. 

Oversight of special events, including on-site details will be part of the assignment. 

The position also provides ongoing administrative support to The Fund’s Executive Director and Teen Board Coordinator, focusing primarily on scheduling of meetings and preparation of meeting materials.

Skills and Competencies:
To minimize the learning curve, the following qualities are being sought for this position:
• Strong computer skills are essential with proficiency in Microsoft Office necessary.  Experience with Gifts Online would be helpful but not required.
• Excellent communication skills, including telephone and written communications.  Editing experience is a plus.
• Independent work style, comfortable managing one’s time and ability to prioritize work projects is critical. 
• Knowledge of how non-profit organizations operate would be helpful.

Hours and Benefits:
The position is part-time, and may range from 24 to 29 hours/week. The Coordinator/Assistant will work four days per week. 

Benefits include PTO, dental, life insurance, long-term disability and possibly 403(b) match.  However, medical insurance is not provided.  Voluntary vision, short-term disability is available.  There are no evening or weekend responsibilities and The Jewish Fund is a flexible organization.
