Position Summary

We are seeking an Associate Director of Philanthropy who is energized by building relationships and inspired by the power of philanthropy to change lives. As a key member of our development team, you will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivate meaningful connections, and invite transformational acts of generosity that strengthen Jewish Detroit.

This is a dynamic frontline fundraising role, ideal for a professional with several years of experience who is ready to deepen their impact and grow as a leader in Jewish philanthropy.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and grow a portfolio of donors and prospects, building long-term, values-driven relationships.
- Solicit and close gifts in partnership with senior development staff and volunteer leaders.
- Partner with donors to align their philanthropic interests with community priorities.
- Collaborate across teams to advance the Federation’s annual campaign and special initiatives.
- Steward donors through thoughtful engagement, personalized communication, and strategic touchpoints.
- Maintain accurate records of donor activity and progress within Federation’s CRM system.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or related work.
- Demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting gifts.
- A relationship-builder with excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficiency with CRM systems; Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.
- Knowledge of AI tools for fundraising and communications a plus.
- A strong sense of initiative, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
- Commitment to Jewish values and community.
