NEXTGen Detroit Associate

The NEXTGen Detroit Associate is central in implementing strategically imperative programs that culminate in community-building for the 21-45 year-demographic, particularly as it pertains to leadership development, social outreach, community campaign, and agency involvement. 


  • Work with NEXTGen Detroit leadership to strategize, develop and implement programs within the Outreach and Engagement, Jewish Life, and Leadership Development pillars
  • Host individual coffee meetings with young adults looking to get involved with NEXTGen Detroit
  • Develop and maintain programs with NEXTGen Detroit’s partners
  • Cultivate effective relationships with board members, volunteers, donors and colleagues
  • Build relationship with donors and solicit gifts at telethons and/or face-to-face meetings
  • Assist in all programs and identify new individuals for outreach
  • Staff at least one, possibly two, Birthright trips per year
  • Member ofthe NEXTGen Detroit staff team, supporting department programming, campaign, and events
  • Assignments may include support to or collaboration with other departments as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Business, Jewish Studies, Human Behavior, Communications or equivalent preferred.  Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Strong team player
  • Passionate about supporting and building a NEXTGen community while strengthening Jewish identity and connection to Detroit Jewish life, Federation, and Israel.
  • Demonstrated strong cultivation/engagement skills and relationship building skills with the NEXTGen Detroit community including those who are unaffiliated and disengaged.
  • Event programming experience
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and the Jewish community. 
  • Familiarity with social justice issues in Detroit a plus.
  • An ability to handle multiple projects in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and some weekends as program schedule requires.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media tools.
